Carnelian derives it's name from the latin Carne which means flesh, as the gemstones are typically flesh coloured, but they can range in colour from dark orange to pink, and are part of the chalecedony, a variety of quartz, family.
It was once thought that carnelian is a gemstone only for the nobility, so much so that the upper classes of society were often buried with it.
Carnelian is know as a gemstone of action, providing both courage and confidence to forge a new path forward, enabling one to make clearer decisions and better career choices.
It is also an energy booster, aiding the physical body, by utilising the blood flow to improve ones life force energy.
Carnelian can work on various chakras, depending on the colour of the gemstone, but predomonately it acts on the Sacral chakra, improving the reproductive system and stimulating sexual energy.
