The Flow Collection
The Flow Collection
The Flow rings I designed, February last year, as my stacker ring with attitude, has been very popular with my customers, especially the geometric shapes that added in July, so now it feels like the right time to expand the collection.
I love a good ring, but I wanted to create something special for you my customers.
After listening to my customers stating how much they love my rings, but they find the too wide, I wanted to create a thinner stacker ring. Looking around most jewellers at the pop up events I attend had the ubiquitous item on their stalsl, but they lacked any design imagination and creativity, and where so thin that I doubt they would last the summer, let alone the year.
With this in mind I set about creating a thinner, for me, copper wire ring, playing around with the profile and thickness to create the Sexy & Curveous Wave Ring.
These went down a storm, at the markets, but as most of you, my customers, prefer to wear sterling silver over copper, the next batch was made and I changed the name to the Flow ring, after doing a bit of market research.
Believe it or not, I always listen to what my customer feedback, good and bad, so when one said how much she loves the shapes of the rings and the story behind it, but doesn't wear them, I asked her what jewellery does she wear?
Her response was hoops!
Challenge accepted, I always do my prototype work in copper, to work out the processes and kinks, before moving it into sterling silver, and created these:

Whilst I was in the creative zone, I added a few geometric ring shank shapes into the mix:

All these have gone down a storm, and converted a few of my customers from non ring wearers to embracing the hand adornments, but I have noticed that some of my customers like to wear studs, so I thought a small Flow version would make a great compliment to the rings.
Bearing in mind that I was effectively scaling down the ring it made perfect sense, well to me, to use a thinner wire, and I measured and cut the exact length required, but with all these things, it's always trial and error, taking a risk in doing it in sterling silver first, and I found that the wire was still just a little too thick for the size of the stud.
Although I haven't got it quite right the first time, I'm still happy with the final first pair of studs:
