Hypersthene Jewellery Collection

I brought a load of Hypersthene cabochons late last year, but when I received them I was a little bit underwhelmed by them, until now.

Im not really a fan of brown semi-precious stones, and they can stay in my drawers for ages until the inner magpie catches my eye, and thus is the case with Hypersthene

My biggest weakness is gemstones, and I am a sucker for an optical illusions, which includes labradoressence, so when I was offered some Hypersthene cabochons I jumped at them, especially as yo don't see a lot of this semi-precious stone on jewellery stands, and I love offering my customers something a little but different.

On receiving them I was a bit underwhelmed and catalogued them in a drawer, for later use. I routinely go through my semi-precious gemstone stock and sell off any stones I feel I never use, and during this time I found my stash of Hypersthene cabochons.

I don't know what happened this time, maybe it was the lighting within the room, but when I looked at the stones again, I was mesmerised by the deep dark chocolate matrix and it's shimmering optical illsions that I knew that I wanted to make some jewellery pieces with them.

Hypersthene encourages mythical and magical powers especially when working with them specifically for this purpose as their vibrations increases the ability to see visions or to hear the voice of spirit assisting you in receiving messages from spirit and in the higher realms

A supplier on a buying trip, had come across a supply of marquis and round Hyperstene beads, which to me indicated this was the right time to create a limited collection of jewellery.

As only have a few Hypersthene cabochons in my stock, I decided on a large elongated oval to create a contemporary ring for my customers with larger fingers, as I hate it when people come to my stall and tell me that they love wearing rings, but can never find rings that fit them.

My intuition told me that this large Hypersthene cabochon would be perfect, along with a octagonal ring shank, giving this mesmerising stone a contemporary feel, and as I've been playing around with embellishments on my ring and pendant set, just added a small fine silver ball to finish the piece:

I next turned my attention to this cute dumpy teardrop, looking at it's dimensions, its' shape didn't lead itself to a ring, but it would make a perfect elegant pendant, with its colour being perfect for everyday wear or on a night out.

Dark and mysterious I was mesmerised by this stone, which only reveals its true inner beauty in the right light:
