Fordite is rather fragile, and as such should be treated with care, with a soft to medium surface hardness, which takes a nice glassy polish.

How do I clean my Fordite jewellery?

Fordite comes in different varieties, that have a myriad of tolerances and strengths.

General cleaning can be accomplished with warm soapy water, but as with all softer materials used within the jewellery industry, Fordite may pick up small scratches with frequent wear.  

How do I bring back the shine to my Fordite jewellery?

A quick solution is to use a fine car polishing compound like Turtle wax and buff to a high shine, with a soft 100% cotton cloth, or jewellers green rouge.
 

This will restore the lustre of well worn pieces without damaging the pattern of the Fordite.

Fordite jewellery set in fine and/or sterling silver should be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth.
 
It is NOT recommended to use:

• Silver dips, as the reaction with the enamal can results in discolouration of the silver, or
• Ultrasonics, as it could damage even the most robust pieces, Opal and Pearl fans get the gist
